Foodbank WA’s Regional Strategy acknowledged through Awards

Foodbank WA's Food Sensations® initiative was nominated as a finalist in the Partnerships category for the 2014 WACOSS Community Services Excellence Awards. The awards celebrate the work of those who dedicate themselves to assisting some of the State’s most vulnerable people, often expecting little in return. Foodbank WA was recognised for partnerships with WA Country Health Service units and key collaborators in order to increase the quality, reach & sustainability of its work by equipping staff with training, ready-to-deliver resources, cooking equipment and staff to deliver the cooking and nutrition program. Foodbank WA, together with Pilbara, Goldfields, Great Southern, Midwest and Gascoyne Population Health Units – WA Country Health Service, were awarded the 2014 WA Health Excellence Award in the ‘Overcoming Inequities’ category for the Food Sensations® initiative. The WA Health Excellence Awards acknowledge outstanding achievements in the WA public health sector. The nomination was coordinated by the Population Health Units and acknowledged for the strong partnerships created between Foodbank WA and the Population Health Units that has resulted in significantly more schools and communities in rural and remote WA accessing the Food Sensations® initiative than would otherwise be possible.
