Garden to Plate workshops are run with the support of the City of Mandurah and in partnership with the Mandurah Community Garden and are free for all to attend.

Food Sensations® Workshops

Food Sensations®  for Adults is a nutrition and cooking program designed to give participants a good understanding of healthy eating as well as skills in how to purchase and prepare healthy foods. The program is designed to provide a hands-on learning experience.Members of the public are welcome to attend free Food Sensations workshops. Each workshop consists of 4 sessions over 4 weeks, conducted at Foodbank Peel (Unit 1, 68 Reserve Drive Mandurah WA 6210).

Workshop Summary

Session 1 (Thursday 4 May, 10am-12.30pm) - 'Healthy eating and cooking'

Session 2 (Thursday 11 May, 10am-12.30pm) - 'Label reading, food selection and cooking'

Session 3 (Thursday 18 May, 10am-12.30pm) - 'Meal planning, budgeting and cooking'

Session 4 (Thursday 25 May, 10am-12.30pm) - Cooking and an optional topic from the following:

  • Lunch boxes and healthy snacks
  • Supermarket tour
  • Healthy mind, healthy body

*Please note: Food Sensations for Adults is a 4 session program, participants must attend  ALL four sessions.

Mandurah 'Garden to Plate' Community Garden Workshops

Workshops are held on the first Wednesday of the month (March to December 2017, 10am - 12pm) at the Mandurah Community Garden. Workshops are free to attend - all materials, resources and morning tea is provided. The project is designed to increase the confidence and motivation of participants to eat well and be more active. One way of doing this is increasing their participation at the Mandurah Community Garden.

Garden to Plate workshops aim to improve people’s knowledge and skills in growing their own food, increasing their knowledge and understanding of healthy eating and nutrition.

  • Learn to grow seasonal produce
  • Pest control—minus chemicals
  • Worm farming
  • Composting
  • Learn to garden plot, plant, nurture and harvest fresh fruit and vegetables.
